Elding Whale Watching is a family owned comp­any that has run whale watching and other advent­ures at sea from 2000. On behalf of the city of Reykjavík Elding has run Viðey Island and the ferry to the island since 2007.

Elding cares a great deal about the delicate and beautiful nature in and around Viðey. The comp­any is EarthCheck certified and their boats carry the Blue flag. In 2008 the comp­any recei­ved the Environmental Award of the Icelandic Tourist Board and cont­inual environmental improvements are an integral part of their business.

During the sum­mer there are daily ferry depart­ures both from Skarfabakki pier and Ægis­garður har­bour. During the win­ter the ferry runs on Saturdays and Sundays from Skarfabakki to Viðey.

Gestur is the main ferry boat and takes up to 38 passengers on each ride. Elding has also other boats availa­ble for lar­ger groups and/or special occasions.
